Fillers for friction materials

Fillers occupy one-third of the seats in friction discs, but few people have a specific understanding of what they are. There are various types of fillers in friction materials, including natural minerals and artificially synthesized substances. Different fillers are added according to the different needs of the friction plate.

Fillers occupy one-third of the seats in friction discs, but few people have a specific understanding of what they are. There are various types of fillers in friction materials, including natural minerals and artificially synthesized substances. Different fillers are added according to the different needs of the friction plate.

The fillers we mainly use include iron trioxide, mica, zinc oxide, cashew shell oil friction powder, rubber powder, copper, etc. Adding fillers to friction plates mainly has the following functions:

1. Improve the friction performance of friction plates, such as friction coefficient and wear rate.

2. Improve the appearance quality, stiffness, hardness, braking noise, and density of friction plates.

3. Improve the machining performance and manufacturing process performance of friction plates.

4. Control the thermal expansion coefficient and shrinkage rate of friction plates to increase the stability of product dimensions.

5. Improve the thermal conductivity of friction plates.

6. Reduce production costs.
